Auburn Asian Welfare Centre (AAWC) is looking for a Full Time General Manager to offer welfare and community services for the local residents of Auburn multicultural community.
Position Details
Position Title: General Manager
Employment basis: Full-time – 35 hours per week. The position is a permanent position (subject to 3-month probation period)
Remuneration: Based on relevant qualification and experience, the salary range for the position is $73K - $75K per annum – in accordance with the Social & Community Services Employees (State) Award

Essential selection criteria:
- Qualified social worker or degree in social and community welfare education with experience in social welfare services (tertiary or Diploma of community services)
- Fluency in speaking English, Cantonese and Mandarin, able to write English and Chinese
- Understanding mainstream and Asian social and community services with demonstrated ability to promote services in the Asian community
- Competent computer skills in data entry, website development and related programs
- Ability to set up a practical management system for ensuring accountability with staff, the management committee, funding providers and the Asian community
- Knowledge, skills and experience in working independently or as a team in running centre base activities for the individual and groups
- Capability and experience in community networking and collaboration with network for community development
- Sound understanding of the centre’s financial affairs and the financial reporting system
- Contribute to building a sustainable organisation
Desirable criteria:
- Ability to drive and secure funding and financial partnership opportunities and delivering on our funding agreements outcomes.
- Current NSW driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle for work purpose
Roles and responsibilities
- Provide overall direction and management of the centre, including developing, implementing and monitoring procedures, policies and standards for the centre and administrative staff
- planning, developing, coordinating and administering educational, training, welfare and support programs and services to meet the needs of clients
- preparing applications/submissions for funding and resources and reports to government bodies and other agencies
- report to Management Committee and Funding body
- interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties, as well as assisting clients by providing support and information
- acting as a mediator and referring clients to appropriate community organisations/agencies that can provide additional help or specialised services
- liaising with other welfare providers, community organisations, government bodies, boards and funding bodies to discuss about community issues and promoting awareness of community resources and services, also provide measures to improve existing services and facilities and develop new services
- controlling administrative operations such as budget planning and forecasts, report preparation, monitoring and controlling expenditure, equipment and services
- representing the Centre in negotiations, and at conventions, seminars, public hearings and forums
- administer programs with staff, recruit and train staff & volunteers
- advocate on behalf of clients in their dealings with government departments or service delivery agencies to ensure access and appropriate levels of service
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities within the scope of this role, as directed
