The Western Sydney Family Referral Service (WSFRS) is unique among the RANSW programs. Funded by the NSW Department of Health, the WSFRS is part of the Keep Them Safe initiative designed to support children, young people and their families.

Exciting opportunity currently exists for experienced Caseworkers to join the growing service based at Rouse Hill and Mount Druitt, providing services to seven LGAs from Auburn to Mount Victoria. Caseworkers may also be required to work independently from schools or other community centres in the region.

About the role

Some of the responsibilities of the successful candidates will include:

  • Providing professional telephone and face-to-face client services including:
    • Engaging clients,
    • Completing assessments of strengths and needs
    • Referral to appropriate services
    • Case coordination
  • Conducting home visits to families to complete assessments and to provide practical and motivating support
  • Participating in community events and interagency meetings
  • Being part of a tight-knit dedicated team of Caseworkers who deliver quality services to vulnerable children, young people and their families

About the successful candidate

We have 2 positions available. These positions are fixed term full time / part time contracts and the successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in social work, counselling, psychology, welfare, or health related services;
  • Experience in the human services environment, working directly with clients (young people and/or parents with children) who may be experiencing significant crises, trauma, domestic and family violence, and/or family transitions, or an intersection of these;
  • Demonstrable skills in client assessment, engagement, and awareness of issues relating to client safety, confidentiality, and the requirements of relevant legislation (including but not limited to Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1991 (NSW), Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW), Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), Privacy Act 1988;
  • Proficiency in the use of IT for data entry, record keeping, and communication;
  • Excellent written/verbal skills (a basic level of counselling skills will be well regarded);
  • Ability to provide quality casework/case management/coordination, developing tailored case plans and coordinating referrals to suit client need;
  • Experience providing representation and advocacy in coordinating multi-service access;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and develop partnerships with key service providers within government and non-government organisations
  • Current Driver's licence (preferably NSW);
  • Experience in and knowledge of health and safety requirements, ideally in the social services sector;
