Who are we?

Starting in 1958 in Tamworth Challenge has grown to become a leader in out of home care and disability support. We employ over 600 people across 68 sites in NSW and support clients with low, moderate, high and very high support needs across all disabilities and backgrounds, in both group and individual programs.
The role
Challenge Community Services is looking for dedicated and passionate part-time Disability Support Workers to join our team based at Oran Park working between 9am-5pm.
These roles work closely with people with varying support needs in our Challenge Accommodation, providing around the clock support to people with a disability who are not able to live by themselves. Clients are assisted with personal care, social, medical and day-to-day needs.
Who are we looking for?
The successful applicant:
- Will be able to develop strong relationships and engage with clients
- Is passionate about supporting clients with disabilities and making a difference in the lives of others
- Is able to handle complex or difficult situations as they arise with patience and maturity
- Enjoys working and interacting with people, but also able to work autonomously as required
- Have general housekeeping skills
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Budget Management
Essential Criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in general housekeeping skills
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A current NSW Working With Children’s check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Unencumbered NSW driver’s licence
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a disability role or similar industry
- Certificate 3 in Community Services (or similar)
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate and First Aid Certificate
