Vanguard Laundry is a social enterprise commercial laundry based in Toowoomba, purpose built to provide jobs and career opportunities for people with an experience of mental illness who struggle to secure work. Vanguard is managed by a small but passionate team of highly skilled people using their expertise to make a big difference in the local community.
The social purpose of Vanguard is implemented by the Careers Team, who are responsible for managing the career journeys of staff and helping them to achieve the goal of transitioning from Vanguard into their next job. The team works with staff to discuss their career paths, runs activities and workshops in the Careers Centre, and works with the community to help achieve job transitions.
Our criteria for engaging new team members is as simple as this, it is essential that you are;
• Inexperienced in the social sector, and want to get involved.
• Degree or diploma - qualified (or partially complete).
• Committed to something social and can tell us about your studies, reading of lots of books, or volunteering in a space you’re passionate about - like ridding the world of single use plastics, or helping people who experience homelessness, saving whales or adopting a community garden.
