About RSPCA WA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Western Australia (RSPCA) is the State’s leading voice in animal welfare. On an average day we employ around 90 staff and we also have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently towards preventing animal cruelty.
About this Opportunity
This role is a casual position based in Albany and reports to the Business Services Manager.
The role is responsible for building and coordinating RSPCA WA’s Albany Volunteer Branch. The incumbent is the RSPCA WA representative on the ground and is responsible for Branch compliance with all RSPCA WA Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a local volunteer program
- Oversee the development and retention of Volunteers in Albany
- Provide support to local Inspector
- Operate a rehoming and foster care program
- Raise funds for the RSPCA WA through fundraising initiatives and events
- Coordinate an RSPCA WA Op Shop
- Seek and maintain relationships with local community groups and organisations
- Propose and implement plans for local animal welfare programs and initiatives
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in people management with demonstrated abilities in recruitment, training and supervision.
- Experience in coordinating volunteers and managing external organisational relationships.
- Excellent skills including the ability to develop communications such as newsletters.
- High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ‘solutions’ based focus.
- Experience implementing standard processes and policies and monitoring those processes.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, use initiative, be creative, be outcomes focussed and be able to work effectively in a team and autonomously.
- Experience in working in a location away from ‘head office’.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with a ‘can do’ approach to both internal and external customers
- Highly competent computer skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook) and experience using a CRM system.
Desirable
- An understanding of issues relating to Animal Welfare
- Retail experience.
- Possession of a C Class driver’s licence
- Experience coordinating volunteers or experience within a charity
- Confidence in public speaking
