About the role

An exciting, part-time position (30- 32 hours per week in Dementia unit (but not limited to dementia specific unit) for a Recreational Activity Officer (RAO) has become available at PAC’s Ashfield facility:

  • Great location, within walking distance to Ashfield Station.
  • Work with the supportive management team at a site with high employee satisfaction and low employee turnover rates.
  • The opportunity to increase your rostered hours by also working as a CSE if you hold the relevant qualifications
  • Reporting to the on-site RAO Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the resident’s leisure needs are met. You will be required to carry out assessments and assist the RAO Coordinator in developing and carrying out a lifestyle program.
  • Preferable hours from 1100- 1800

To be successful in your application, we require that you have relevant qualifications in Cert III or IV in leisure / Diversional Therapy. Other requirements include:

  • Previous experience working as an RAO in an aged care environment.
  • Experience in, or assisting with the development, facilitation, and evaluation of activity programs in an aged care environment.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, with a ‘think outside the box’ attitude.
  • Knowledge of LeeCare would be highly regarded, although not essential.
  • Driving licence (preferable)
  • Willingness to undergo an Australian Federal Police check
  • Passion for helping older generations, and genuine empathy for those who are needing assistance
