A fantastic opportunity has opened up within the Aveo Group as our Leisure and Lifestyle Officer to join outr team at Aveo Durack, Magnolia Aged Care, QLD. 

Please note: This is a part time position working initally Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm however there may be possible weekend shifts in the future. 

About the role:

Reporting to the Aged Care Manager this position will be an integral part of the team. Aveo Durack's Aged Care Facility is a state of the art 123 bed aged care facility which will lead the way in how care will be provided in the future. Partnering with UQ Healthcare, this facility will revolutionise care through innovation, further development of our continuum of care model, and our people. Durack will be one of Australia's largest integrated Retirement communities, focussed on bringing the wider community together.

 You will be required to plan, coordinate and facilitate lifestyle and leisure enriching programs to meet the needs and choices of care recipients in consultation with residents, representatives, volunteers and Magnolia Caring Centre Staff.   To guide and support leisure and lifestyle staff in order to ensure that organisational objectives are met.

Minimum role requirement:

 To be successful in this role you will have:

• Certificate IV in Leisure & Lifestyle (and/or studying);

• Previous Lifestyle/Divisional Therapy experience;

• Experience working alongside people living with dementia;

• General knowledge of Aged Care or working with older people

• High level written and verbal communication skills.

• Sound literacy and numeracy skills.

• Competence with computer and on-line network applications

• An ability to look for opportunities to make a difference to the Aveo community

• Be able to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy, patience and listening skills

• A passion to deliver outstanding customer service

• An ability to take ownership of and responsibility for all aspects of the role

• Willingness to take direction and guidance when required

• Good health

• A good work ethic

• The ability to communicate effectively

• The ability and willingness to maintain harmonious interpersonal and working relationships

• A genuine interest in the aged care sector

• Flexibility to work weekends when required
