Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services are currently seeking a full time, permanent Youth and Family Counsellor and caseworker for our Youth and Family team. Our programs include: Child and Youth and Family counselling/casework, Homelessness Support Service, HIPPY Program, Neighbourhood Centre, Youth Centre, Emergency Relief Program, Parent's and Carer's Programs, Domestic Violence and Legal Support, Aboriginal Culture Groups and Programs, Playtime groups and Outreach Programs.

This position is part of the Early Intervention Program which provides appropriately targeted youth and family support services to reduce the likelihood of young people entering or remaining in the child protection and out-of-home care systems. You will be part of a dynamic and committed team/organisation that wants the best for their community.

The following selection criteria must be addressed in your application

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Family Therapy, Social Work or equivalent with experience working with families
  • Demonstrated experience providing counselling/casework for families and young people around complex issues and in using appropriate models of intervention and a range of counselling/therapeutic approaches
  • Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing and evaluating skills-based and therapeutic groups with young people and parents. 
  • The ability to work collaboratively and within a multidisciplinary team of professionals
  • The ability to maintain comprehensive, confidential  and professional client information.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a strengths-based, solution-focused, trauma-informed practice informed by principles of social justice, feminism, accountability, transparency and equality
  • Current NSW or National Driver's Licence and current WWCC number.

SCHCADS Award Level 4 or 5 depending on experience. Above Award conditions. Salary Sacrifice available.
