William Campbell Foundation are currently taking applications for Family Support Services workers in the Shoalhaven and Illawarra.

Position Overview

William Campbell Foundation is a not for profit Christian organisation that provides a range of services, including permanency support programs for children and young people. Additionally, William Campbell Foundation delivers therapeutic services to children, young people, individuals and families.

William Campbell Foundation is committed to permanency outcomes for children and young people in care to provide a positive, safe and healing experience that addresses trauma, attachment, self-regulation, culture and community needs.

We are currently taking applications to join our Family Support Service Program on a Casual basis. Key Requirements of this position include:

  • Providing quality services including the supervision of family contacts, ensuring that contacts are trauma informed, culturally sensitive, safe and appropriate to the current needs of the child or young person and their family.
  • Provide positive role modelling and mentoring for identified children and young people, ensuring consistent, appropriate and positive activities that are designed to build resilience and relationships.
  • Assist in family preservation where there is a risk of children and young people coming into care, however there are identified strengths to prevent this happening. This may include assisting with appointments, routines and behaviour support.
  • Provide educational support for children during periods of suspension or inability to attend formal education.
  • Provide support to care placements during times of increased instability, with focus on meeting both the Child and Carers needs.
  • Recommend risk management and crisis intervention plans to increase capacity to safely work with children and young people, birth families and carers.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Permanent Placement Principles and support the delivery of wrap around services in line with these principles. 
  • High level effective and respectful communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with Children and Young People, WCF staff, birth families and significant others, Carers, referring agencies and all other identified stakeholders.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of child development, including knowledge of the context and impact of issues arising from children and young people being removed from their family and significant others.
  • Comprehensive understanding of reporting requirements to ensure reporting information is being captured for provision to Family and Community Services and WCF internal programs.
  • Provide comprehensive reports as required, which give clear and concise information and are submitted within the agency’s required timeframes. 

 

Selection Criteria

Note: Applications will not be considered without the Selection Criteria being addressed.

  • Please advise the area you would be interested in working – Illawarra or Shoalhaven (may select both)
  • Minimum of Cert IV in Community Services or 2 years paid employment in a relevant community services field.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and understanding of the impact of issues arising for children, young people and their families when children and young people are placed in out of home care.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and understanding of mentoring processes and role modelling for children and young people.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work in situations of conflict and crisis.
  • Demonstrated adaptable and high level communication skills, including both verbal and written communication (must detail capacity to provide comprehensive reports).
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently, as well as working cohesively as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of current NSW Child Protection legislation and the NSW Standards for Permanent Care
  • Willingness to work within a Christian Ethos
  • Current Driver’s license and vehicle with comprehensive motor vehicle insurance available for use where required
