Southern Migrant Resource Centre (SMRC) is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year.  SMRC is a not for profit organization that aims at empowering the diverse communities in the South East Region of Melbourne to ensure inclusion in a unified Australian Society. The Position

This position will work across two programs; Strategic Partnerships and the South Sudanese Guiding Project.

Funded by the Department of Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion, Strategic Partnerships is in partnership with South East Community Links.  The program supports community leaders, the development of new and emerging leaders and communities from refugee origins across three local government areas to design and implement their own programs in response to their own community identified need.  The incumbent will work across all Greater Dandenong and the Cities of Casey and Cardinia.  The position will work collaboratively with other relevant agencies in order to support the delivery of programs in a partnership approach.

Girl Guides Victoria has been the awarded a two-year contract by the Federal Government Department of Social Services to develop Girl Guide programs in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.  The primary purpose of the grant is to engage with, and increase awareness in the South Sudanese Community about the Girl Guide movement. A significant portion of the Victorian community that comes from a South Sudanese background and the grant is therefore focused on providing women and girls from these communities the opportunity to participate in Girl Guides programs and activities.  Therefore SMRC will only consider applications from suitably qualified South Sudanese female candidates for this position.

Requirements:

The role will suit a well-rounded, energetic and enthusiastic professional, with relentless focus on delivering exceptional services to internal and external clients, and promoting a philosophy of accountability. Your tertiary qualifications in Community development, Human Services or equivalent, and demonstrated experience in working with clients or communities from refugee background preferably the south Sudanese Community will put you in good stead for this role.

You will have a passion for innovation and seek to secure the most creative solution to a diverse range of challenges. You will enjoy seeing the completion of projects to the satisfaction of your internal and external customers. You will be outcome focused but able to understand and recognize the community services and human resource context in which you work.
