POSITION:

Several Residential Care Worker positions are available in Inala’s Accommodation Services supporting adults with an intellectual disability.

HOURS:

Permanent Part Time and Full Time positions including split shifts and some weekend work.  The various hours of each position will be discussed during interviews.

GROUP HOME LOCATION:

Cherrybrook, Carlingford and Castle Hill

REPORTS TO:

Accommodation Services Manager / Joint CEO

OVERVIEW:

Inala is a Rudolf Steiner inspired organisation supporting individuals living with disability. Inala was established in 1958 and provides Individualised and Flexible Accommodation, Day and Community Supports.

DUTIES:

• Provide support to each of person in all areas of their life
• Assist with personal care, meal preparation and all other aspects of maintaining a home for people with disabilities
• Support each person to access the community and their day program / supported employment
• Paperwork and documentation as required
• Other duties as indicated in the position description and as requested by the House Co-ordinator / Accommodation Services Management

REMUNERATION:

Inala Enterprise Agreement 2014, Level 3.  Penalty rates / shift allowance apply where relevant.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

• ESSENTIAL

• A great sense of humour, ability to work as part of a team and the ability to meet the demands of the position
• Experience in manual handling / hoisting
• Enthusiasm to provide a stimulating home for people with disabilities
• Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise and communicate with families effectively
• Computer skills
• Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Disability Certificate III or IV (or willingness to undertake)
• An understanding of the Disability Services Act, EEO and WHS
• Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour
• Experience in a similar role in the disability sector

• DESIRABLE

• Experience supporting individuals living with autism
• Knowledge of Anthroposophy
