ParentsNext is a pre-employment program designed to target early intervention assistance to parents at risk of long-term welfare dependency and help parents identify their education and employment related goals, connect them to local services and participate in activities that help them to achieve their goals and overcome the barriers they face to employment.
Two positions available: 1 Permanent Full time and one Permanent Part time (30.4hrs or 3 days per week).
As an Engagement Consultant you will provide tailored case management and engagement activities for program participants at our sites in Port Pirie and Kadina and will also provide outreach services across the wider Mid North region to areas including Barossa, Wakefield, Clare, Light, Yorke Peninsula and Peterborough.
You will work with participants to assist them to complete the activities and undertake intervention strategies, case management and individual support. You will be invested in understanding the challenges parents face to employment and how we can build on their vocational and non-vocational skills to achieve sustainable and meaningful change.
Ideally you will have relevant tertiary qualifications such as Community Services, Youth Work or similar and at least two years’ experience in providing employability training or a minimum four years' specialised experience in a similar position. You will have proven ability to build rapport and motivate people. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complex and multiple barriers that parents face with regards to engaging with employment and education.
You will need to demonstrate innovation, creativity and a genuine interest for working with disadvantaged people. You will have strong networking skills, with an understanding of the local labour market and proven capacity to achieve effective outcomes for participants. You will have high level communication skills, including program and workshop delivery skills.
You will have the ability to travel within the Mid North region on a weekly basis.
