We facilitate General Foster Care, General Foster Care +2 and Intensive Foster Care across the state, working with our Communities to have a positive, lifelong impact.

The role

Challenge Community Services is currently looking for a motivated and passionate full time Intake and Assessment Officer to join our Campbelltown Foster Care team.

This position works closely with our foster carers to ensure families, children and young people have a positive and seamless intake and assessment process. Part of your role is assessing and reviewing prospective and current foster carers, meaning you will be a brilliant communicator and enjoy building strong rapport and relationships. You will also be responsible for completing home inspections and assisting with placing children- both ongoing and for respite.

You will work alongside out operations team to support Challenge in finding engaged carers for children and young people in out of home care (OOHC).

About you:

This position is suited to a person who has the following experience and attributes.

You:

  • Have extensive experience report writing and are a great communicator, both written and verbally
  • Have a basic knowledge of Foster Care and OOHC
  • Are skilled in administration- filing, understanding of databases etc
  • Have intermediate skills in the Microsoft office suite
  • Love working with the community and want to join an organization where you can make a difference
  • Have the ability to develop strong relationships and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including carers, potential carers
  • Possess excellent time management skills who considers taking initiative as being second nature
  • Are able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Enjoy working autonomously, although with your people loving nature, are happy to engage with your experienced and supportive team when needed
  • Have a current NSW Working With Children’s check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Have an unencumbered NSW license

Desirable Criteria

  • Completed training in the Step by Step carer assessment process and Shared Lives
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment and/or previous experience providing training
  • Previous experience in interviewing and assessment
  • Able to be flexible and to work non-standard hours as required
