Ipswich City Council is the driving force in a region which is a catalyst for future growth and change in South East Queensland. Working for Ipswich City Council means flexibility and work-life balance, a supportive work environment, job security, generous superannuation and most importantly a strong sense of community.
The Regional Skills Investment Strategy (RSIS) supports the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) to partner with selected regional communities to identify current and emerging jobs and ensure there is a supply of skilled local people to meet this demand.
Ipswich City Council has entered into a partnership with DESBT to undertake a two year regional engagement and collaboration project funded through RSIS that will foster local partnerships and support local economic and employment opportunities in the Ipswich region.
The RSIS Project Coordinator will assess and develop ways for improved identification and matching of the emerging and available jobs in each region, to inform the training made available and support a ‘local first’ approach for employment in target communities. The Project Coordinator will also focus on assessing skilled labour needs within the following targeted industries, defence, advanced manufacturing, and food and agribusiness, and develop ways that will drive regional collaboration to address local workforce issues related to skilling and training.
The ideal applicant will bring in well-developed industry knowledge and contacts. Demonstrated local government and local industry knowledge is also required, together with substantial communication, presentation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to effectively facilitate stakeholder relationships and outcomes.
This is a two year fixed-term position (full-time) with a salary range of $93,287 to $98,937 per annum, dependent upon skills and qualifications, plus a Council contribution to superannuation of up to 12%.
