The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a  switched on self-starter for our ParentsNext program in Taree.

Parents eligible for the targeted ParentsNext service will receive tailored assistance to identify education and employment goals, develop a pathway to reach those goals and connect with local services in their local community.

The Role will see you engaged in the following:

Collaborating with participants to help them find a 'Strong Life" by working with participants, their families and communities.

Working with parents, families and communities to identify strengths and areas for growth.

You will be making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged individuals in your community by assisting with goal setting and career planning.

You will engage in group work with elders, community leader and employers.

You will assist with access to pathways such as counselling, parenting skills, legal aid.  Each person’s needs are different and unique and you will work closely with them to ensure the service is culturally diverse and appropriate for the person’s needs.

Criteria:

Essential: 

  • Demonstrated experience working with young parents  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to adapt style to suit audience
  • Ability to network and engage with community stakeholders and established local networks
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and reliable work style

Desirable:

  • Candidates with relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience within the Employment Services, Training, Rehabilitation, or Community Services or a similar type sector are highly desirable.  
  • Experience liaising and or working with First Nation Australian community and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse groups would be highly regarded.
  • Candidates will also be required to have a drivers licence and a Police Check and Working with Children’s check.
