About the business

A new purpose built facility based in Warrnambool and servicing South West Victoria, provides a nurturing environment for children, families and staff. A specialist unit provides the opportunity to build a thriving private practice with the support of a collaborative team.

About the role

Child Counselling role - Working with children up to twelve years of age to assist in overcoming trauma. Child assessments and a range of therapeutic interventions, psychotherapy, art, music, drama and movement are preferred methods. A play therapy room has been created for this work.

Psychologist - Working with rural families, early intervention is the focus to assist in prevention of family breakdown in times of acute stress. Whilst being respectful of the individual, family work is the primary objective. Work with Family Law Courts, Community based orders and victims of assault are part of the role.

Benefits and perks

The rooms are newly developed, at least 12 meters with wide doors for wheelchair access, ample power and data points, walls acoustically treated and windows double glazed for privacy. A multipurpose room and deck with ocean views plus a secluded courtyard are available for use by all. Ample off street parking is also available.

Security system and duress alarms are installed in all rooms with doors that are individually lockable.

Medicare provider status is essential and membership with APS or AASW is required. Positions could be job shared if preferred. Support in maintaining HICAPS payments and rebates will be available via reception.

Skills and experience

Ideally have experience working in rural communities and understanding of these environments. A capacity to be a self starter and to be part of a collaborative team is essential.
