Do you want to work with Aboriginal children in the care of Centrecare?

Djooraminda is looking for people like you to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who for various reasons can't live at home.

We currently have Support Carer AND Live in Carer positions available. The Live in Carer position is a live in position where you would move into one of our houses for 7 days to provide day to day care to our children as a parent would.  Once your 7 days is complete you will then have 7 days off whilst another Carer looks after the children.

The Support Carer position will cover available casual support shifts throughout the weekdays and weekends. 

This position will start off on a casual basis providing support work to the children and primary carer before moving on to the 7/7 roster.

The Djooraminda services support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in care to live in a safe, home like environment to grow and develop.

A group interview will be held for this position on 27th July 2018, please advise at phone screening if you are available for this date.

A few specifics:

  • Act as a parent to the children in our care e.g. taking them to school, helping with homework, cooking and cleaning
  • Working in one of our homes with access to a vehicle and other supports
  • Provide casual support or casual primary care to the children
  • Live in the house for 7 days before having 7 days off

What you need for this role

  • Ability to apply for a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check card.
  • Drivers licence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture
  • Experience with working with children.
  • Ability to work in a live in arrangement
