Adelaide Metro Worker - 0.4FTE
Location - Magill or Blair Athol offices of Lutheran Community.
About the role: The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health to provide companionship to socially isolated people living in Australian Government funded aged care homes or community members receiving Government subsidised aged care services. CVS aims to alleviate social and or cultural isolation experienced by older Australians whose quality of life would be improved by friendship. The CVS provides volunteer Community Visitors for the following types of visits:
- One on one visit by a volunteer visitor to someone living in an Australian Government funded aged care home
- Group visit to two or more care recipients at the same time in an Australian Government funded aged care home
- One on one visit to a community member who receives a Home Care Package.
ROLE SUMMARY
The aims and objectives of this role are to recruit and support volunteer visitors who will help to improve the quality of life of aged care residents who are at risk of isolation in the community.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant degree or other qualification or specialist skill to perform at this level.
- An understanding of the needs and issues affecting resident of aged care facilities/ aged people living in their own homes.
- Experience in volunteer management and a sound knowledge of the volunteer sector.
- Ability to network with local communities for purposes of promotion and recruitment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, especially with residents of aged care homes and elderly people living in their own homes.
- Competence in using a computer, internet and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Current driver's license and roadworthy personal vehicle available to work use (mileage will be reimbursed)
- Strong skills in time management, setting priorities, planning and organising own work to achieve specific objectives.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills to negotiate manage and liaise with internal and external partners and service providers.
- Aptitude and sensitivity in working with people and supporting aged members of the community
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
