About the role

This role will support the following objectives:

  • Diversification of Cahoots brand and public profile through strengthening and creating new partnerships
  • Use networks, strategic marketing and purpose-driven leadership to ensure growth in participation through referrals and community recognition of Cahoots services
  • Create strategic marketing and communication plans for all services and events
  • Work with the team to initiate local resource and campaign development as per the marketing plan and as required
  • Seek and build relationships with business and community partners to build the profile of Cahoots
  • Seek new opportunities for fundraising events and investment from community, private and corporate sectors
  • Work with the Events and Communications Officer to plan and coordinate events to create both fundraising and promotional opportunities
  • Working with the team to identify grants and project funding and coordinate completion of applications to increase revenue to drive Cahoots continued growth, in line with business plan and strategic objectives.

ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES

PARTNERSHIPS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS 

  • Develop and manage stakeholder engagement strategy to increase investment from sponsors and partners.
  • Network with organisations and build relationships. 
  • Manage current PR, events and partnerships. 
  • Seek new partnerships through advertising, networking, establishing relationships with like-minded organisations.
  • Update and distribute local area media releases, key messages and quotes
  • Actively develop and nurture relationships with potential supporters and sponsors. 

STRATEGIC MARKETING 

  • Play a significant role in long-term planning of strategic marketing, including organisation growth through promotions and brand positioning. 
  • Plan, measure and document marketing and promotional event outcomes based upon qualitative and quantitative KPIs.

GRANT MANAGEMENT 

  • Actively seek out opportunities to diversify funding sources including new project plan proposals and grant applications.
  • Complete grant and funding applications that align with Cahoots strategic plan.  
  • Monitor grant deadlines, including acquittals and support staff to achieve project outcomes within timelines.

FINANCE AND STAFF MANAGEMENT 

  • Oversee overall marketing and events financial management.
  • Set goals and manage work of team providing regular feedback to develop a high functioning team.
  • Ensure team members are achieving the goals and responsibilities within their roles, provide performance management and coaching to achieve this outcome. 
  • Maintain a positive culture throughout team by leading by example and educating staff on values based behaviour.

Skills and experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate, negotiate and liaise with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.
  • Ability to build brand profile as a leader focused on developing inclusive communities.
  • Demonstrated initiative to seek out new opportunities to enhance and grow the profile of the organisation
  • Experience in Public Relations, Partnerships/Sponsorships or Marketing.
  • Experience in overseeing events – including promotions and sponsorships.
  • Strong written communication skills, experience writing media statements and key messages.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with Cahoots staff, partners, stakeholders, community and local media.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train and mentor other staff.
  • High level creative writing skills and ability to apply these skills to grant and funding applications.
  • Demonstrated flexible, energetic and self-motivated approach to planning and implementing work schedule to meet goals and timelines.                                 
  • Attention to detail with ability to prioritise and problem solve to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Computer literacy (i.e. Microsoft Office, Publisher, database, email, Facebook, Twitter and internet use).
  • Accountability to work autonomously and actively improve organisational KPIs
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of Marketing, Communications or Public Relations, or equivalent industry experience specialising in internal and external communications, media relations and marketing.
  • Experience working with people living with disability, or other unique challenges.
