Sports Therapist Position
Inclusive Sport SA has a unique opportunity for an experienced Developmental Educator / Behaviour Therapist who has a passion for sport and Inclusion to join their highly successful team in a newly created position.
At Inclusive Sport SA we believe that sport and recreation creates meaningful relationships within families and communities, and is a vital part of inclusion. We believe that sport allows us to learn about ourselves, can give us a purpose and is a healthy way to have fun.
Using best practice principles, the Sport Therapist will use sport as the tool for engagement and behaviour support for individuals with disability or integration challenges. The position will require you to manage your own diary, and travel throughout metropolitan Adelaide to provide behaviour support to individuals and their families or carers. This type of behaviour support will require a creative approach to ensure that sport is one of the key strategies in engagement and teaching as well as a key outcome for the individual and their support networks.
This Sport Therapist will:
- Understand the importance of sport and recreation in one’s identity.
- Acknowledge the role sport and recreation can play in creating inclusion in the community.
- Have knowledge of best practice principals and support strategies for people with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder.
- Have experience writing and delivering Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Have knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
- Be creative in their approach to using sport as a tool for learning, behaviour modification and relationship building.
- Have experience working on billable hours and be able to work autonomously or within a team.
