About the business and the role

Perth Children's Hospital Foundation is the main fundraising body for Western Australia's only specialist paediatric hospital, the brand new Perth Children's Hospital.  Our fundraising initiatives support a wide range of health care services provided by Perth Children's Hospital and the wider Child and Adolescent Health Services in WA.

Previously known as the PMH Foundation that raised money for Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, the Foundation is by far the largest supporter of the hospital, outside of government, in WA.

Position Purpose

This position will contribute to and implement an ambitious strategy that achieves income growth and builds a loyal and committed donor base for long-term success. It will cover all aspects of direct appeals including telemarketing, planned giving program and the development and implementation of a bequest program.
 
The role will be crucial in helping to enhance the donor journey and the growth of high and mid-value donors in conjunction with the database and fundraising team.
 
Reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising, you must possess significant experience in fundraising within the NFP sector, together with advanced strategic planning skills, extensive direct marketing experience and an innovative approach that will ensure financially successful outcomes.

    Experience and Skills

    Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years' experience within the fundraising industry
    • Specific fundraising qualifications are not essential, but will be highly regarded
    • Sound knowledge of Microsoft suite is required
    • Experience and knowledge of The Raisers Edge database is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
    • Broad-based communication, organisational and time management skills as well as project management skills in a competitive environment is essential
    • Experience in writing and presenting to individual, Trusts and Foundations
    • Proven ability to network with the Foundation staff and others is essential

    • Excellent presentation and communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage several activities at the one time
    • Proven budget management and reporting
    • Highly effective communication, planning and project management skills in a fundraising environment are essential
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with all levels of internal and external staff and individuals  in a wide range of settings
    • Ability to work as a member of the Foundation team and in a sensitive environment – including working with individuals/families of hospital patients
    • Ability to maintain and promote a flexible and positive approach to all work situations.
    • Demonstrated experience implementing a variety of fundraising strategies including, but not exclusively, direct mail, planned giving and a bequest program.
    • Ability to manage and coordinate the acquisition, retention and upgrade of donors through a multi-channel approach.
    • Ability to optimise the opportunity for growth and to create a positive working environment with the establishment of the new hospital.
    • Knowledge of developments, innovation and initiatives emerging  in the fundraising industry
    • Ability to enhance the current communications supporter journeys for both new and existing donors that come through all fundraising departments.
    • Excellent budget management with an emphasis on ensuring return on fundraising investment is maximised.
    • It is preferable that you are well networked in the non-profit and fundraising sector with a genuine passion for working in this child healthcare sector
    • A mature and advanced understanding of databases and accurate data management tools available, donor management skills and ability to pay attention to the importance of compliance of security/privacy of data policies.

    Your salary package will be determined based on skills and experience plus 9.50% compulsory superannuation. Salary sacrifice is available to all Foundation employees.
