Support Worker sought for young man with cognitive disability and behaviour management in Rockingham
I am seeking to employ a casual support worker to provide support and nurture a young man with a disability The support worker will be required to work 16-18 hrs per week to provide support and management of the young man's diet and activities,
I am seeking someone capable of providing a nurturing management and mentor role and assist with diet control and to stimulate healthy activities, socialisation and volunteer work opportunities..
The support worker will ideally be active and friendly and it is essential to have good listening and communication skills. It is important that the support worker be mindful at all times of the cognitive and behavioural needs of the young man, be aware at all times of what may trigger the young man to become frustrated and to ensure that they provide strong active listening skills..
Generally the young man is very personable enjoys a laugh, likes being active and is keen to meet people. He likes to be with others and loves animals. He can get tired and his syndrome and diabetes makes his diet and food preparation extremely important. Access to only healthy choices including low fat low sugar foods and drinks is essential. No unhealthy foods/ drinks should be available or consumed in front of him as this has adverse impacts on his long term health and overall day to day happiness.
The support worker will be required to work with the young man's father and other support workers to provide structure and routine to the young man's weekly activities and to identify and support him with volunteer opportunities.
He enjoys movies, events and concerts and exercises regularly. There is also opportunity for additional work on some weekends if suitable.
