The Intake Worker will be responsible for engaging with newly referred families into the FFT-CW program and assisting them to understand the FFT- CW program. Reporting to the Manager Youth and Families, the position will actively engage with the children and their families through the completion of prescribed intake processes and be involved in data analysis and reporting for the program.

FFT-CW is an evidence-based, intensive intervention program aimed at keeping families together, and wherever appropriate keeping children out of Out of Home Care. Internationally tested and recognised, the model targets the causes of harm, and treats trauma. FFT-CW is a home-based treatment model that works with families where there has been physical abuse and/or neglect of a child. There are two types of services within the model – one for families at very high risk, who need intensive intervention, and one for families at lower risk who are more likely to engage successfully in community supports.

About you

We are seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Social Work or Psychology or an Aboriginal Health Worker
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to swiftly establish rapport and engage clients over the phone and face to face
  • Well-developed needs, risk and safety assessment skills
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in interpreting data for effective reporting
  • High level of skill in working with databases, proficient in data entry and electronic data collection systems
  • Initiative to assess and evaluate current data collection practices and to recommend solutions to improved systems and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise a range of tasks, plan workloads and work to deadlines, supported by sound computer skills.
