Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MS) is a Not for Profit organisation, and a leading source of information, advice and services for individuals living with multiple sclerosis.  The main focus of the organisation is to help minimise the impact of multiple sclerosis on individual lives and provide ongoing support to ensure their journey is not undertaken alone. 

 

We are recruiting for an Employment Support Consultant (ESC) to work within a well experienced and cohesive team from the office in Lidcombe.  The main purpose of this position is to support participants diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis to achieve their goals in maintaining or obtaining their chosen employment in the open labour market. 

 

You will be responsible for the provision of high quality disability employment services to clients with MS, in accordance with the Disability Employment Service Deed and MS policies and procedures.  You will provide tailored individual support to a person(s) diagnosed with MS and may also provide advice to employers and a range of stakeholders. This is not an NDIS role or an Occupational Rehabilitation role though experience in either area is welcome.  

 

Other key areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):

 

·        Managing a caseload

·        Contractual administration

·        Program and participant promotion 

·        Identifying any vocational and non-vocational barriers

·        Coordination and implementation of workplace modifications

·        Monitor progress and provide assistance to participants and employers as required

·        Develop and maintain effective and mutually beneficial internal and external relationships

 

 

You will need to have a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or other relevant health discipline and be registered with an appropriate registration body, eg AHPRA.  This role may also suit a recent graduate.

 

The successful candidate will need to undergo a National Police Check and possibly an International Police Check, Working with Children Check and a Working with Vulnerable People Check.

 

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has:

 

·        A proven ability to maintain and coordinate client case loads

·        A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to working with people who have a disability

·        An understanding of the barriers MS individuals may face in relation to employment

·        Advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills

·        Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

·        The ability to develop and implement innovative client and outcome focused strategies

·        The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

·        High levels of computer literacy

 

This position is a permanent full time position. You will be eligible for the salary packaging benefits of working with a NFP organisation. 

 

Please note that you will need to have a current valid driver’s license as you will be visiting individuals and employer workplaces on a regular basis.
