Your new role

Merri Health is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Intake Worker to join our Victims Assistance Program (VAP), which provides a range of services to clients that have been affected by violent crime in the Northern Metropolitan & Hume regions, funded by the Department of Justice & Regulation.

As part of the Victim Assistance Program at Merri Health, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of intake, information and referral service for the Northern and Hume VAPs
  • Provision of practical support and casework including: assessment, case plan development, advocacy, education, referral and the use of brokerage funds as appropriate
  • Liaison with internal and external services to maintain relevant links and networks to strengthen services to victims of crime

This is a full time role offered on a fixed term (30/06/2020) basis. You will be based in Preston. In order to be considered for this position, you must have the right to work in Australia.

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, intake, risk assessment and referral
  • Demonstrated Casework and/or Case Management experience
  • Experience/knowledge of basic counselling, utilising a variety of intervention methods and the development of on-going support structures
  • Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written skills
