About the organisation

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential.

Since 1977, we've provided services in some of the most disadvantaged in our community.

We place a high priority on advocacy and are a leader in policy development and research.

About the program

Housing & Complex Needs

Our Housing and Complex Needs services provide holistic support services for people who present with multiple and complex needs, are assessed as high risk/need, have limited social and family networks, limited accommodation and support options, and are experiencing multiple and complex health problems.

Program staff deliver quality programs in a manner that reflects the social justice principles of participation, equity, access and respect.  Services include: intensive outreach support, case management, supported accommodation, recreation programs, employment/training programs and a 24/7 after hours emergency assistance and referral service.

The services contribute to many regional and state-wide advisory forums and networks and assist in a more comprehensive approach to justice through partnerships with Government agencies and other service providers and to legislation, policy development and advocacy.

Individual Support Programs

Multiple and Complex Needs Initiative (MACNI) is a time-limited specialist service for people 16 years and older, who have been identified as having multiple and complex needs. This includes people with combinations of mental illness, substance abuse issues, intellectual impairment, acquired brain injury and forensic issues. Often these individuals pose a risk to themselves and to the community.

MACNI's primary purpose is to facilitate better coordination of supports and services to people with complex needs, deliver holistic care and prevent further escalation of need.  Participation in MACNI is voluntary.

Targeted Care Packages (TCPs) were introduced by the Department of Health and Human Services in 2015 as a means of providing alternative options to residential care for young people in the Child Protection system. Funding is attached to each child based on an assessment of their need and focuses on the child's transition from out-of-home care to an alternative living arrangement.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a healthcare program which changes the way people with a disability receive funding from the government. For people with a disability it's a new way to receive support, offering more choice, greater control and a lifetime approach to individual needs.

About the role

We are seeking to recruit a range of qualified, experienced and enthusiastic After Hours Support Staff to work in a residential setting across a number of sites. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing individualised after-hours support to residential participants via a range of recreational, social and personal development activities. • Capacity to work in a professional manner with disadvantaged and challenging young people and ability to provide sound assessment of crisis situations.
