The Opportunity:
Lifestyle Solutions manages a Residential Out of Home Care (OOHC) Service based in Gladstone providing accommodation and support for Children and Young People (CYP) aged 12 – 18 years. We are seeking applications from experienced and committed people to join our service as Casual Support Workers. The Service operates 24hrs/7 days a week and successful applicants will need to be available to work a variety of shifts including morning, day, night, sleepovers, weekends and short shifts (min 2 hours). We are seeking Support workers who are passionate, dedicated and resilient with an understanding of the importance of high quality services which meet the needs of the Children and Young People, as well as our responsibilities under the Child Care and Protection Act and the Out Of Home Care Standards.
You will be a strong positive role model, responsible for a wide range of duties including the provision of positive support in areas such as emotional behaviour, health, incident management and education. Duties will also include personal care and hygiene, transport, community access, cooking and domestic duties. You will guide and support the Children and Young People to develop independent living skills whilst ensuring all of their day to day care needs are being met, including the implementation of clear routines, structure and positive behaviour support practices and strategies.
Essential requirements:
- Minimum Certificate 3 in either Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services, Disability Services or Aged Care
- Experience providing direct care in residential services or disability accommodation based support services
- Sound knowledge of the Child Care and Protection Act and Out of Home Care standards
- Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services
- Sound practice and knowledge or significant experience in meeting the holistic needs of Children and Young People who has an intellectual disability or trauma
- Drivers license
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Blue Card
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with Children and Young People who have complex trauma backgrounds
- Experience working with Children and Young People who display difficult or challenging behaviours
