About the Service

Ability Links NSW is a key foundation in the NSW Government’s plan to reshape and improve the way people with disability, their families and carers in NSW are supported by placing them at the centre of decision-making. The St Vincent de Paul Society is working in partnership with Settlement Services International to deliver this initiative in Sydney Metro South. The program aims to facilitate social and economic inclusion in local communities through recreation, work, volunteering or other services.

The Role

The Ability Links Regional Program Coordinator is responsible for the day to day oversight and effective service delivery of the Ability Links program within the Metro South region, with 3 regional teams working across multiple work sites.  Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Providing sound leadership, support and feedback to Team Leaders and team members who work across multiple sites
  • Supporting Team Leaders in implementing a framework of practice for Ability Linkers to use in their day to day work including the use of person-centred tools
  • Providing guidance to ensure that all teams are able to consistently deliver high-level service to people with disability and their families/carers, and communities to foster social inclusion
  • Ensuring all service provision meets benchmarks, objectives and disability standards
  • Identifying, implementing and managing projects to improve service delivery
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on the provision of Ability Links to the Program Manager and other key stakeholders
  • Facilitating and monitoring Ability Links and Local Area Coordination Strategic Collaboration Plan across Metro South region
  • Developing community partnerships and networks
  • Preparing budgets and monitoring expenditure
  • Participating and leading quality improvement activities

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred approach to service provision, social inclusion and community development principles
  • Lived experience, or awareness of the impact of disability upon individuals, families, carers and the community
  • A commitment to high standards of service provision and social justice
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise and develop teams across multiple sites to deliver program goals and outcomes
  • Demonstrated organisational and planning skills
  • Strong team management and leadership experience in the social and community services sector or related field
  • Flexibility and creative problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of community development principles
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in social or community services. You do not require experience in specialist disability services.
  • IT competency, including the use of Microsoft Office programs
  • Current NSW Driver Licence required to undertake regular travel across Ability Links LGA’s and sites
  • A willingness to adhere to and support the Mission, Vision and Ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and Code of Conduct
  • Willingness to undertake all the pre-employment checks that include a WWCC and police check
