About Derby Aboriginal Health Service

Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provides a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services. It is required to comply with a number of Service Agreements with Commonwealth and State departments and agencies, and to operate with a number of government and private medical and health delivery organizations.

About the Opportunity

Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is now seeking a full-time Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join their team in Derby, WA.

Reporting to the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Manager, you will be responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing care for DAHS clients.

More specifically, some of your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assessing clients' needs and supporting positive client outcomes;
  • Promoting engagement with the youth of the community;
  • Managing Shine and Body Shop Girls programs;
  • Maintaining records of program activities and patient contacts and contributing to health program reports as required;
  • Providing outreach counselling services to surrounding communities;
  • Developing care-plans with clients, ensuring follow and closure planning;
  • Providing clients with counselling, case management, and SEWB support; and
  • Undertaking and assisting with clients through the Bringing them Home program.

To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a tertiary qualification in Counselling or a similar field and have demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and the issues facing these organisations in their service delivery.

  • Salary sacrificing up to $31,177;

  • Annual airfares (after 12 months of employment); and
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading on 4 weeks of annual leave.
