Community Mental Health Practitioner

 

Help people to gain better mental health, and improve the quality of their lives.

 

A position has become available for a part time Community Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at the Burnside Housing and Accommodation Support Partnership (BHASP) service of Mind.

Burnside HASP is a 24/7 residential support service for people living independently with mental illness. The Burnside Housing and Accommodation Support Partnership is a supported accommodation service that partners Mind, Eastern Community Mental Health and housing. The program supports up to 20 clients at any time, with flexible support hours dependent on the individual client’s needs.

 

As part of the team at Mind you will:

  • Work part time, 24 hours per week over a 24/7 rotating roster
  • Work with customers to enable them to maintain their home environment and a meaningful life through supporting them in key stages of their recovery
  • Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information
  • Assist the customer with accessing a range of local service providers, in line with their individual recovery plan including: clinical mental health, physical health, education and employment, eligible entitlements and benefits, housing, transport, recreation and social connections

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working within a recovery oriented framework
  • A positive attitude to the work
