Our organisation manages a number of Out of Home Care (OOHC) Residential Services for Children and Young People (CYP) aged 7 – 17 years in the East Kimberley area. These are often long term placements for the Children and Young People we support. The services operates 24hrs /7 days a week and the successful candidate will need to be available to work any of the following: weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evenings and for sleep over shifts and be willing to work at various East Kimberley locations when need arises.

We are seeking committed and resilient people who actively want to make a difference and have working knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care and person centred approaches and experience in Youth Work/Disability Work/Community Services Work.

As a Support Worker in our Family Group Homes you are a strong positive role model who is responsible for providing positive support to our Young People in the following areas – emotional, behavioral, health, personal care and hygiene, education, community access, culture, meal preparation, domestic duties. You  are responsible to help, guide and support the Young People to develop independent living skills while ensuring all of their day to day care needs are being met. This includes the implementation of clear routines, structure and positive behaviour support practices and strategies.

A clinical team is supporting the Family Group Homes with the implementation of positive strategies.

Essential requirements:

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work/Community Services/Disability
  • Experience providing therapeutic care in residential services (Out of Home Care) and/or disability based accommodation support services
  • Experience working with Children and Young People who have experienced complex trauma backgrounds
  • Experience working with Children Young People who display difficult or challenging behaviours
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services
  • Understanding of Children and Community Services Act 2004 and statutory responsibilities in Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care
  • Driver’s license
  • First Aid Certificate  or willingness to obtain one
  • Working With Children Check and National Criminal history check clearance
  • Willing to participate in Learning and Development
  • Available and willing to work any of the following: weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening and sleep over shifts
