Aveo, a leading retirement village owner/operator is seeking a Personal Care Attendant at Aveo Durack Retirement Village and Aveo Durack Aged Care.

About the role:

The Personal Care Attendant will be required to assist the Aged Care Manager to attain and maintain optimum degree of independence and quality of life in the provision of quality care services to residents within the community, including emergency call-outs in the community, in a professional efficient manner and demonstrate an empathetic attitude to the needs of residents. You will be responsible for assessing each residents' needs, interests and abilities and consult with them or their carers/relatives to provide an individualised recreational plan and be an active participant in continuous quality improvement.

As a support worker you will undertake a variety of tasks to support clients to live their lives their way. These tasks can include domestic assistance, facilitating meal times, client movement and transport, personal hygiene assistance, communication support, assistance with recreational activities and high-needs personal care. You will also be required to work as a proactive team member to complete catering and housekeeping duties within the community.

You will ensure resident's safety, security, dignity, privacy and well-being at all times, actively contribute to the promotion of best practice in OH &S and continuous quality improvement, and promote the culture and philosophies of Aveo Retirement Living.

 
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate 3 in Aged/Community Care or equivalent 
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Experience working in a Retirement community desirable
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills
  • Current Police Check
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work within OH&S and a continuous improvement environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise
  • Good oral and written communication and comprehension skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-tasking, multi-skilled work environment
  • Reliable, flexible approach to rostering
