Broome Youth and Families Hub has a fantastic opportunity for a Youth Support Officer to join their friendly, highly motivated and dedicated team.

Broome Youth and Families Hub are looking for a hard-working and committed individual, who is positive and flexible in their approach. Reporting to the Youth Services Manager, you'll be responsible for one on one support and case management for young people (12-18) at risk of homelessness, or who are homeless. This position will predominantly work with male clients.

About the role

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a point of contact and a source of information for youth at risk of or who are experiencing homelessness
  • Provide responsive and flexible Case Management support to youth at risk of- or who are experiencing homelessness (Including proactive outreach services)
  • Undertake risk and formal needs assessments for each presenting client, set SMART goals and assist in working towards set goals
  • Provide advocacy, support, informal counselling and preventative initiatives to young people to address identified issues relating to homelessness
  • Engage with and work alongside families to strengthen their capacity to provide safe accommodation for the young person
  • Work to restore and maintain family relationships where appropriate
  • Provide appropriate referral pathways in accordance with client requests and legislative requirements
  • Promote and encourage Youth participation in education and training
  • Promote and encourage Youth participation in community events
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Attend, support and promote community initiatives/events/meetings regarding youth and youth homelessness
  • Maintain client confidentiality and accurate up to date documentation of client contact
  • Attend, training where deemed appropriate as to ensure best practice services

Skills and experience

To be considered, you'll require experience working in a Case Management setting, ideally with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Diploma or Bachelor level qualifications in Community Services or Social Work are preferable, but not essential.
