We are seeking a suitably experienced individual to undertake a Support Worker role located in Karratha. The Karratha Women’s Refuge Centre provides short term crisis accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping Family & Domestic Violence and/or homelessness.
The position involves shift work and on-call and is on a casual basis providing relief to full time and part time team members as required.
The primary purpose of this role includes;
- To provide case management and advocacy support to women (and their children) who are victims of Family and Domestic Violence and/or homelessness in accordance with the mission values of The Salvation Army and state funding requirements.
- To assist with the provision of short/medium term crisis accommodation in accordance with WHS & Duty of Care
- To assist The Salvation Army’s mission of transforming lives.
- Provides a person-centred and strengths based approach to case management, advocacy & referral
- Networks with other agencies to support families in crisis
To be considered for this role, applicants must demonstrate the following competencies:
- Mandatory Police Check
- Mandatory Working With Children’s Check
- Current WA Motor Vehicle driver’s licence
- Evidence of relevant tertiary qualification (minimum certificate IV in Community Services) and experience with domestic violence support
- Able to work independently & in a team
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with case management & advocacy in the wider community network
- Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health compliance
- Willingness to work within the ethos and values of The Salvation Army
