We are looking for Casual MALE Support Workers who are interested in providing high quality, flexible support in a residential or community access setting with a focus on enhancing the lives of young people or adults at risk. You will be able to contribute to the lives of a range of young people including therapeutic, recreational and skills development which are supportive of the young people’s plans.

We are hiring for the BRISBANE region (Morten Bay, Caboolture, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Inner City Brisbane,) with limited positions on the SUNSHINE COAST region available.

We work with Service Users from various settings, including but not limited to; Department of Communities, Child Safety, NDIS and Disability Services. All residential houses are team-based environments which facilitates in the delivery of quality of service to achieve positive outcomes for young people in care or transitioning from care.

YOUR ROLE AS A HYPAR MENTOR/SUPPORT WORKER:

  • To be a positive role model to young men in a supportive and caring environment, building a relationship based on value, reflection, encouragement and leadership;
  • Demonstrate initiative in an every day setting and high-pressure situations;
  • Not be afraid to get your hands dirty, engaging in domestic duties such as, but not limited to: house cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, budgeting, shopping etc;
  • Be able to role model pro social, positive life skills to young men who have disabilities and/or learning impairments;
  • Be able to work autonomously and report back to your coordinator in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Be compassionate, patient and understanding, be able to demonstrate skills and qualities of flexibility, commitment, confidence and rapport building;
  • Be willing to transport clients to meetings and appointments, ensuring you are respectful and can represent HYPAR positively at all times;
  • Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and be a team player while having strong communication skills – both written and verbal;
  • Have strong professional boundaries;
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO APPLY?

  • Minimum Cert III in Disabilities, Youth Work, Mental Health (OR related field) or be willing to obtain within a set period if successful;
  • MUST have a current Police Check (dated within the last 12 months) prior to applying;
  • Paid Blue Card and Yellow Card/or Yellow Card Exemption (or be eligible to apply, this will be at your expense);
  • MUST be able to undergo an LCS2 Child Safety background screening check;
  • MUST have own registered vehicle and full comprehensive insurance and have a full open licence;
  • MUST have a working computer with Microsoft Excel, Word and basic computer programs and internet access;
  • MUST have a working android or apple smartphone (our system is app based);
  • Experience in relevant field desired, but not necessary;
  • Be willing to work shifts 24/7, including emergency shifts;
    • Ability to work both long and short shifts;
    • Ability to work sleep over shifts/awake shifts.
