About the role...

An exciting opportunity now exists for a dynamic and community-focused individual to join the City of Playford team and support the delivery of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) project to those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds across the City of Playford and City of Salisbury areas.

The primary function in this role is to support people from CALD communities living with disability, their carers, families and other stakeholders, and provide them with the information they need to be better informed and positioned to access services provided under the NDIS. The role will develop and maintain positive relationships with CALD organisations and community leaders, disseminate NDIS information as it relates to people from CALD backgrounds, and work closely with service providers and other local government bodies across the Northern Adelaide metropolitan area to continually improve the delivery of culturally appropriate services.

About You...

The successful applicant will be passionate about delivering positive outcomes for the Community, and possess formal qualifications in disability services, human services, community development, social work or relevant field, together with an acute understanding of the needs of people living with disability from CALD backgrounds. In addition, you will possess:

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels and backgrounds, both internally and externally
  • Prior experience in a disability service/community development-related role with strong networks across CALD communities
  • Self-motivation with a high degree of initiative, energy, enthusiasm and the ability to prioritise
  • Working knowledge of the NDIS and it's principles as they relate to those with a disability
