This role forms part of a well-established service in the South West Region which since 1981 has provided responsive and innovative programs, which meet the needs of agencies as well clients and their families for the provision of specialist sexual assault/abuse and/or domestic violence counselling, assessment, safety planning and advocacy for children, young people, adults and their families.   

Waratah has a south west region wide education and training unit which has an important role to increase community knowledge and skills and challenge the myths surrounding sexual assault, rape and sexual abuse.  Included is a Respectful Relationships Program which provides interactive sessions to young people on developing healthy relationships. 

This Professional Development role will further expand and formalise current education and training packages which include Consent, Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Assault and Abuse, Vicarious Trauma and Self-Care for Workers, Protective Behaviours, The Impact of Trauma, Trauma Informed Practices: where to begin and Sexting and the Law and Violence and Restraining Orders, Culturally Secure Practices and Risk Assessment and Safety Plan Development. 

The Professional Development Co-ordinator will support all contracted services within Waratah to meet their key performance indicators and outcomes. This part time role is required to develop, deliver, co-ordinate, and measure and report outcomes for the professional development training provided by the service.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Tertiary qualification in Education and/or extensive experience in workplace training and education.
  2. Previous experience working with services and agencies providing interventions for survivors of abuse and family violence
  3. An understanding of  Principles of Trauma Informed Practice and Adult Learning Principle's
  4. Experience in the delivery of training, setting objectives and the measuring and recording of outcomes necessary to demonstrate achievement of key performance education indicators
  5. Ability to develop, write and review training modules designed to meet service requirements as well as plan and structure delivery to meet service needs and those of our key business partners
  6. Highly developed and effective communication skills (verbal and written) as well as interpersonal skills
  7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of software: Word, Outlook, Excel, Power-point.
  8. Understanding of cultural and linguistic diverse communities; disabilities access and inclusion, occupational safety and health, equal opportunities, carers’ recognition and associated regulations and legislation.
  9. Well-developed personal and professional boundaries, personal resiliency and professional compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.

To be considered for this position it is essential that you have the following:

  1. Current valid motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  2. National Police Certificate.
  3. Evidence of the “Right to Work” in Australia.
  4. Evidence of Qualification/s (copies)
