About the business and the role
Community Support Workers (Full time and part time, one year contract)
Burke and Beyond is a growing organisation based in the eastern and southern suburbs of Melbourne. We support people with a disability to gain every day skills and explore pre-vocational and recreational options in their community. Due to rapid expansion, we are looking for a number of Support Workers to start as soon as possible.
Full time positions are for 12 months with a possibility of extended permanent work at the end of that period.
- Next Step Blackburn: One time part time position 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.
- Next Step Bayswater: One time full time position 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
- Casual staff to work across the organisation

Job tasks and responsibilities
The roles offered are to work with young people wanting to increase skills and development in the areas of work, social and life.
Skills and experience
Selection criteria: (to be addressed in the application)
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of person centred support.
- Understanding of Disability, not-for-profit community sector or similar
- Effective verbal, written and computer skills
- Positive, can do attitude with the ability to engage and motivate people.
- Demonstrated professional attitude and commitment to continual learning.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team.
- A current driving license.
- Ability and experience with optimising opportunities to connect people to their community.
- Experience in working with individual support plans.
- A clear Police record and not listed on the Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme (DWES).
Experience in working with people with disabilities and/or a Certificate IV in Disability or Community work would be an advantage.
