About Women’s Health West

Women’s Health West provides specialist family violence services to women and their children. We also run prevention programs that promote equity and justice for women and girls in Melbourne’s west. Women’s Health West is one of Victoria’s only organisations that provides services and programs that encompass the family violence continuum - from primary prevention, to early intervention and response.

Our work has actively contributed to improving the health, safety and well being of women and their children in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne since 1988. We provide a range of early intervention and response services for women and children who are experiencing family violence. We also run programs that are focused on promoting positive health and wellbeing among our communities, and reducing inequities that limit the lives of women and girls.

About the role

Due to a twelve month secondment, Women’s Health West is looking to appoint a full time or part time fixed term (12 months) Director Strategy, Advocacy and Community Engagement.

Women’s Health West (WHW) is seeking a qualified woman with exceptional communication skills to join our executive team and lead our strategy, advocacy and community engagement stream.

This pivotal role is responsible for strategically positioning WHW as a collaborative and influential organisation. The role leads two large regional primary prevention partnerships and has oversight of health promotion activities to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of women in Melbourne’s west.

You will hold tertiary qualifications in gender studies, health promotion, community development or social work, with relevant post-graduate qualifications highly regarded. You will have a strong understanding of the social determinants of women’s health, communications, and strong planning and management experience, as well as have experience leading and managing a team.

The successful candidate will work within and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and respect, supporting WHW achieve our vision of equity and justice for women in the west.

Base salary for full time $102,534 (part time pro rata) plus 9.5% superannuation and personal use of a serviced vehicle (equivalent to above award of level 8 SCHADS). Generous salary packaging options available.
