About the Role
We are seeking proactive, motivated youth workers to join our Dual order Residential and/or Indigenous Residential Service in Rockhampton.

There is a strong focus on considering the best interests of the young people, working as a team to provide a safe and secure base within the residential and community.

You will be required to respond to high and complex needs of the young people with a trauma informed approach, understanding these behaviours are often a response to the trauma they have experienced through their childhood. 

Key Responsibilities

• Work within a team based environment on a 24/7 roster providing structure and routine within the program.
• Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people.
• You will contribute to the development and implementation of the young person’s individualised plans.
• You will be proactive in your purpose to achieve the goals alongside the young person.
• You will required to practice from a therapeutic/non-punitive framework, working in accordance to Life without Barriers framework CARE, and Therapeutic Crisis intervention.
• Work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, providing a sense of belonging within the home and the community.

Skills & Experience  

• Desirable: Certificate III in Community Services, and/or qualifications in Health or Management or equivalent experience in service delivery.
• Understanding of the needs of children, particularly those in care and commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people.
• Willingness to adopt frameworks and models implemented by Life Without Barriers including CARE framework and therapeutic crisis intervention.
• High standard of communication skills.
• Current Driver Licence and current First Aid Certificate.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.  

All positions within Life Without Barriers will be required to undergo probity checks including criminal record checks and working with children check (where relevant to the position)
