Detail information about job Community Fundraising Role - Community Relations (Parramatta based). Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Drive community fundraising activities with the money flowing right back into cancer research, advocacy, prevention and support!
  • If you’ve worked locally with events, know the local communities and been looking to bring your marketing skills and experience working to financial/fundraising targets to a role with purpose, keep reading!

Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) is a community funded, community focused not for profit.  Our unique combination of local program delivery, community engagement and national influence enables everyone who cares about cancer to make the biggest possible difference.

A recent organisational review has created new ways of working that will improve our ability to extend our reach, and support greater impact for the community, through our programs and services.  This will contribute to an ongoing energised and agile organisation.  Within our Community Engagement and Program Delivery Division, this means a new structure and more effective way of working.  After reviewing all internal capability, and with the revised structure and team in place, we are excited to offer you this opportunity to join the team at an exciting time of change!

Based in our Parramatta office, you will be responsible for the delivery of CCNSW events and fundraising initiatives such as Dancing with Stars, Relay For Life and Do your Thing, within the local Greater Western communities (e.g initially Blacktown and Penrith).

Reporting to the Community Lead, you will be a networker, relationship builder, and a people person with substance.  You will understand that relationships are key, and how you adapt and tailor your approach, is half the success!

Key Responsibilities:

This varied position will need you to drive the success of fundraising initiatives to achieve your targets and raise the profile of CCNSW in the community. You will:

  • Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of community events
  • Identify and realise opportunities for the community to contribute through local fundraising initiatives.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure integration of cancer prevention, information and supportive care as part of all fundraising programs and events
  • Raise the profile of CCNSW as the local cancer charity and maintain high levels of brand and service recognition
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with CCNSW staff and volunteers working within the regional and central offices and local communities
  • Effectively motivate, coach and influence committees and volunteers to assist in the delivery of event objectives

Who are you?

Enjoying what you do makes us better at what we do, so we want to hear from experienced relationship managers who have a genuine passion about making a difference in their community and have:

  • Experience in community events and program coordination e,g Planning, development and coordination
  • Marketing, fundraising or event management skills/qualifications
  • Experience achieving and exceeding financial targets
  • Driven, proactive and innovative approach, with an enjoyment working collaboratively and autonomously

You will be covering different geographical areas so will need your C Class Driver’s license.

This is not your average job, so it’s not average hours! Because of the nature of working with the community, flexibility to work some evenings and some weekends to cover events will be required and flexibility to travel is essential.
