About the organisation
The Buttery is an independent, not-for-profit community based organisation specialised in treatment of people with alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems. It houses one of Australia's oldest and highly reputable residential program as well as a range of outreach services.
About the role
The Youth AOD Outreach Worker will be based in Ballina and cover the Ballina / Evans Head area. Their role will have a dual focus:
- Engage and provide AOD interventions to young people who are experiencing or are at a high risk of experiencing AOD related harms
- Promote the Buttery Youth programs as a point of referral for aftercare for young people discharged from a residential AOD treatment program or released from a corrective service facility
The position is permanent part-time.
Who we're looking for
Applicants must have:
- A tertiary qualification in a social, behavioural or health related field
- Counselling qualifications and experience
- Experience in developing, promoting, delivering, and evaluating programs for young people
- Commitment to working within the AOD harm reduction framework
- Sound computer and report writing skills
- Current NSW "C" Class Manual Drivers Licence (or equivalent for other states)
The successful applicant will be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision, have a high level of integrity, and clear professional boundaries. He/she will have a consultative and collaborative style of working, value a high level of autonomy, and show a passion for supporting young people to achieve their highest potential regardless of the difficulties they have faced.
Appointments will be subject to a National Criminal Record check, Working with Children check, and reference checks.
