About the role:

The Heritage Team provides a supportive, safe, responsive and respectful experience for those seeking access to, and an understanding of their past, through records held at Good Shepherd.

Guided by the Heritage Engagement Co-ordinator, the Heritage Support Worker will provide phone and ‘in-person’ support to past residents of Good Shepherd Institutions to enable them to access their historical information.

High level interpersonal skills will successfully result in creating and maintaining effective partnerships and enhancing the delivery of Good Shepherd mission particularly to those who are affected by past institutional care.

Skills required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling or Social Work
  • Demonstrated experience working within a trauma informed, therapeutic framework.
  • Capable of undertaking research into personal histories, preparation and presentation of information.
  • Understanding of, and the capacity to work within the values, culture and ethos of Good Shepherd.
  • Demonstrated experience responding to people in distress,
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships.
