The Role: In this role you will respond to the psychosocial, developmental, health and socials needs of young homeless people by focusing on early interventions and/or diversions to support  young people to remain in or return to the family home. The role involves the provision of  short-term support which promotes wellbeing and relieves the  immediate distress and trauma associated with homelessness; the provision of psychological assessment and comprehensive support in relation to living skill development, behavioural support and management strategies for emergent mental health issues.

The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in Psychology or Social Work with  a minimum of three years’ experience working with young people with complex needs; a well developed understanding of the housing and support needs appropriate to young people; the ability to assess young people’s needs and readiness to undertake family reunification, independent and/or shared living arrangements; and an understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, mental health issues and stages of development as they relate to young people.
