Nulsen Disability Services supports people with complex disabilities of all ages. If you are looking to challenge yourself and work in a new environment that will help you to gain new skills and have a better understanding of people with a complex disability, then Nulsen is the place for you.

We are searching for a team of dedicated Support Workers to work one-on-one with a young lady who has Autism and lives with her family in Hilbert. You will play a critical role in working closely with this young lady, her family, her therapy provider and her school. You will support this lady in her home and in the community to enable her to maintain her independence and wellbeing. This young lady is transitioning from high school at the end of the year (2018) and you will play a vital role in that transition.

About the role:

• You will be supporting this young lady with her transition from school at the end of 2018.
• You will support her with exploring and engaging in community activities that are of interest to her.
• You will support her with various aspects of her daily life, such as personal and self-care routines, domestic duties, cooking, cleaning and shopping, etc.
• You will have a critical role in supporting this young lady to maintain and develop her independence and life skills.
• You will be working closely with other team members, including the family, the therapy provider and the school.
• You will be well supported within your role by an Area Manager at Nulsen.

Special skills required:

• You will support this young lady to explore and commence a micro business including all aspects required for the set up.
• The role requires a proactive approach to responding to any triggers for potential behaviours.
• An understanding of autism and positive behaviour support would be advantageous.
• A steady, calm personality and a “do with” rather than a “do for” attitude.
• The ability to be inventive and think outside the box and also work closely with the family.

What you’ll need:

• A Full Australian Drivers Licence (non-probationary)
• A National Police Clearance less than three months old
• A Current First Aid Certificate including CPR
• A Valid Working With Children Check
• You must have flexible availability to fit in with this young lady’s daily routines and schedules.
