Casual position supporting an adult with disability, 18 hours fortnightly plus relief work (including occasional sleepovers).
About Us
We're a family managed team supporting a person with high support needs (cognitive disability) who lives in his own home.
Employment is on a casual basis, employed directly by the person with disability.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced person to join our team providing 1:1 support or working as a team providing 2:1 support in the community. The position includes:
- Daytime and evening hours
- Weekend shifts
- Sleepover shifts
- Occasional relief work
About You
You'll be someone who:
- Can work independently much of the time as well as cooperatively in a team
- Finds new ways of solving problems
- Sees and understands things from the supported person's point of view
- Is observant, noticing details and record daily activities (using tablet based app)
You may have:
- Certificate IV in disability, a higher qualification or be studying in a related field.
- Experience supporting people with disability.
- Experience in positive behaviour support.
- Demonstrated proficiency in IT.
- Certificate II in First Aid (desirable, not a requirement)
You must be have a current Australian driving license.
The Role:
Is to provide person centred active support in the home and in the community including:
- Behaviour support
- Personal care
- Housework
- Accompanying and supporting him in the community
You'll be succeeding in your role if the supported person:
- Feels he has choice and control and is happy living in his home.
- Is able to explore options and participate in life in his community and the wider world according to his choices.
- Accepts and trusts in you as his support worker.
