Grace Lutheran College is a large two campus school with approximately 1400 secondary students with a strong history of excellent Science education. We are leaders in Queensland in astronomy and robotics with a flourishing cross-disciplinary approach to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). At Year 10 we offer two Science electives (Physical, Natural) and in Year 11 and 12 we have strong participation in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science. We invite applicants who will contribute to our Christian ethos and lead our Science department.
Responsible to: Head of Teaching and Learning; Head of Campus/Deputy Principal
Position type: Full-time, permanent position
Anticipated Commencement Date: 1 January 2019 with first on campus date, Friday 18 January
Qualifications, Certifications and Work-related Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to teach Year 7 – 10 Science subjects
- Demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the Year 11 and 12 QCAA Senior Science syllabuses, highly desirable
- Accredited teacher with Lutheran Education Australia, highly desirable
- Preference for experienced curriculum leaders
- Ability to teach in another area could be an advantage ie Mathematics
- Willingness to assist with Home Class, Pastoral Care lessons, Chapel supervision, Inter-School sporting teams or recreational activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary curriculum issues in Science education
- Awareness of National curriculum imperatives.
