The Centre for Applied Health Economics (CAHE) was established in 2008, within the School of Medicine, and is based at the Nathan campus. The Centre currently employs 25 staff on contract research projects, fellowships and research grants, and has a number of affiliated HDR students. The Centre is self-funded with an emphasis on teamwork. There are several strong research themes in health economics, including economic evaluation, measurement of health outcomes, and priority setting. This research has attracted multiple research grants from national bodies (eg the ARC and NHMRC). Staff in the Centre are also associated with one or more of the research programs within Griffith University's Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ).

CAHE has a strong emphasis on mentoring staff and establishing career pathways and training for those keen to progress within the Centre. On the job training is essential in some of the specialised fields covered by the Centre, and external training opportunities and conference presentations are encouraged for all staff.

The opportunity
The primary role for this position will be to conduct research on a variety of CAHE research projects to produce high impact publications and reports. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to health economic expertise within the CAHE that has direct impact on health policy within Australia while also encouraging development of a research program of interest to the incumbent.

This is a fixed term (5 year) position based at the Nathan campus.

About you
This position will suit a graduate in health economics or person already working in research but wishes to apply their knowledge and expertise directly into health policy decisions. Collaborations across Griffith University and with researchers in other institutions are undertaken on a regular basis. The successful applicant will conduct research to produce high impact scholarly outputs in a professional and ethical manner, including epidemiological, biostatistical and/or health economics analysis. They will be someone with high level analytical skills with research interests in public health, epidemiology, health services research or health economics aligned with the Centre's strategic objectives. A PhD in health economics or a related field such as health data analytics, or equivalent industry experience is required for appointment at RF Grade 2 and appointment level will depend on experience and education level.

Salary range
Research Fellow (Grade 1): $72,344 - $84,882 per annum including 17 % employer superannuation contribution.
Research Fellow (Grade 2): $92,511.66 - $109,860.63 per annum including 17 % employer superannuation contribution. A generous relocation package is available.
