About the business

Oakleigh State School P&C Association is seeking an experienced and qualified, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Educational Leader.

About the role

This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role in a well-established OSHC in Ashgrove. Oakleigh OSHC provides a caring, safe and stimulating environment that enhances children's development through a variety of child-focused play experiences, such as sports, arts and craft, cooking and games.

The role

In addition to the typical responsibilities of an OSHC educator, the primary role of the Educational Leader will be to:

  • Facilitate team building and learning through coaching and mentoring, monitoring, guiding and supporting educators in the implementation of programmed activities
  • Evaluate programs regularly and develop systems to ensure appropriate modifications are made to meet the needs of the children, whilst also promoting continuous improvement
  • Manage and organise the development of the service program, monitoring the implementation of activities to ensure they are child-oriented and developmentally appropriate

 

The Educational Leader may also be required from time to time to fulfil responsibilities as a certified supervisor and be the responsible person in charge while the Coordinator is absent.

    Skills and experience

    The position is permanent part-time, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Hours of work vary between 6:30am to 6pm. The successful applicant will need to be available for additional hours as required, e.g. during vacation care, staff meetings and training or when the Coordinator is absent, so flexibility is essential.

    About you:

    • In-depth understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and its national law system
    • Demonstrated leadership and organisational skills with previous OSHC experience desirable
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build strong relationships with children, families, staff, school and community
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to think and act proactively, with reliability and as a strong team player
    • A sound understanding of My Time Our Place, Qikkids and CCS is preferred though training will be provided to the right candidate
    • Demonstrated positive behaviour management techniques

    The successful applicant should also possess:

    • Certificate 3 or higher in Children's Services or equivalent.
    • A supervisor Certificate or be willing to obtain.
    • A current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma and CPR Certificate, or be willing to obtain.
    • A current Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
