The School of Business is one of four schools at the University of New South Wales Canberra. It offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment focusing on delivering high quality teaching in both undergraduate and post graduate programs in the core discipline areas of accounting, business law, finance, international business, logistics, management and marketing. The School also offers high quality research programs at the masters and PhD level, currently supervising 59 HDR students. Currently it employs over 30 Academic Staff members to deliver postgraduate and undergraduate teaching, research and HDR supervision.

About the role

The School of Business is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who possess skills and experience working as a Research Assistant; preferably in a University or Public Service environment. The work available will be undertaken within the School of business. The research Assistant will work closely with researchers in the Public Service Research Group (PSRG). The PSRG has been set up to design, co-ordinate, conduct and report high impact, inter-disciplinary research on high performing public services.

Appointment Details

  • Level of Appointment negotiated based on experience at UNSW Level 4, 5 or 6. ($49 per hour to 57 per hour + 9.5% super)
  • Casual Appointment
  • Flexible working hours

About the successful applicant

A successful candidate will possess the ability to assist with the development and delivery of research projects using a range of methodologies and methods.  A successful candidate will possess a combination of the skills and experience outlined below:

  • The ability to undertake literature review and develop broad theoretical themes
  • The capacity to undertake a scoping literature review
  • Experience in statistical analyses, such as factor analysis and regression
  • A Knowledge of, or experience in, structural equation modelling
  • A knowledge of a range of coding strategies
  • The ability to code qualitative data either with, or without, the use of a package such as NVIVO.
  • A knowledge of how to develop a research design
  • Experience analysing qualitative data, including developing themes, theory and main incident analysis.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience using methodologies and methods such as Q-methodology, R, Stata, Repertory Grids, Complex Systems Analysis, etc.”
